The Benefits of Outdoor Play

Outdoor play is an integral part of our student’s day at Good Shepherd. It is also a requirement. We go outside when it is beautiful out and when it is cold (warmly wrapped up) or even when it’s snowy as in the photos. Studies demonstrate that children spend less time outdoors than in years past and this is leading to deficits in multiple developmental areas. The freedom to play outdoors is priceless. Simply being outside in the fresh air and in nature is crucial for the senses and for mental well-being.
